This time last year had a different feeling. The house was always completely decorated along with a fresh Christmas tree, one time reaching 11 feet high. Holiday shopping became fun and stressful, mostly fun. The house became a home with me and my brother back home for the holidays. It was loud, it was quarrelsome, and it was loving. This year there is no tree and there is a few decorations up. My mom is not feeling well and was sad she wasn’t able to deck the halls with all the Christmas decor. My brother is stuck in Virginia Beach and not able to leave for San Diego until after the holidays. My mom is getting through her treatments and scared of what’s to come. It is a different Christmas. Though, despite all this there is still that holly jolly Christmas feeling. It is during this time of year that we come together with loved ones and appreciate what we have and who we have in our lives; the holiday decorations and the presents just adds to it. The importance of being together as a family has nonetheless been strengthened this holiday season.
